I played it for about an hour after it finished d/ling and it runs pretty good on my 6800GT. The load time improved astronomically when the download was done, but it still has long load times. I had stuttering in 2 spots in the beginning but after that it hasn't happened since. I had a weird super slowdown when I reloaded after I died but I didn't continue playing because it was 4am then so I had to get some sleep . I like the game overall though I wish they used a different engine. The source engine is OK but overall I never really liked how things look in it, there is just something off with it.

From now on I need to preload everything I might buy on steam. The insane 42kbps d/l on release day just sucks, and it made me think I would have been better off buying it retail and finding a no-CD crack.

I don't have this yet, but I haven't had stuttering in Source engine games for a very long time. HL2 is completely smooth for me now, except in a few cases with lots of objects reflecting in water (I have it set to "reflect all") it dips into the 20-30fps range.

The only time I hear stuttering of any kind is when I change resolution or graphics settings and it has to restart the renderer.

So I doubt I'll get any with this game either.

More reviews out... looks like this one is going to be a hit.

http://www.gameinformer.com/Games/Re...1809.45368.htm

http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/741/741956p1.html

http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrank...eviewid=737440

And Gamespot has a game guide available as well:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/616...pslot;action;1

I cant decide if I should play this as soon as I get it or wait until I get a G80. I'll probably have the game in a few days, but with G80 about 2 weeks away, itd be nice to possibly play the game at 2048x1536 with 4xAA and 16xAF at a smooth framerate. (heh maybe...)

EDIT: By the way, I don't know how true it is, but I keep hearing about the game lasting a good 20 hours! Thats freaking LONG for an action game. I hope thats true.

I heard anywhere between 12 and 16 from people, but either way I'm sure I'll play through it more than once regardless. The combat in this is the most fun melee I've ever played. It's brutal, fast and responsive and when you go up against multiple enemies you have so many different avenues of attack that the only way it's really repetitive is if you have no imagination at all. If they could fuse this combat with an open world game like Oblivion you'd have pure crack that I'd play forever.

Have you ever played Arx Fatalis? It feels sort of like the half way point between the open ended style of an RPG and the action of a game like Dark Messiah (same developer). Its from 2001 or 2002 and it can be a little clunky, but overall its one of my favorite games ever... if you havent played it, you deffinitely should after youre through with Dark Messiah.

Does the game work with new GPUs now? Last time I tried it, it had a texture issue.

Once I get home from work today I plan on planting myself infront of my PC till I have to go to sleep.

oblivion would have been much better if it had a better combat system, and have an actual story.

that would be amazing

I've never played it. I have i think 3 copies. All were bundled with video cards

I might give it a shot after the silly season.
