You guys can say whatever you want, but Gamespot has disappointed/pissed me off enough times, I never trust them in any way, just like I don't take it for granted if IGN says a game is good

Well obviously not all people are getting all or even most of the bugs mentioned in reviews or on forums, so I'd say if you have it just go ahead and give it a shot. If you get the gamebreakers, you can always wait for a fix at that time. If on the other hand, like me, you have a smooth sail you'll be kicking yourself for waiting.

I played it a whole bunch last night and I think the stuttering bug is related to the HDR. I turned HDR to OFF and all of a sudden I am no longer getting any stuttering (with the slight exception of when a game gets saved). I will have to reload the game later at the point right before I had major stuttering to make sure.

I haven't had a single problem outside of install, where the gcf files were not copied to the steamapps folder. The game is freakingly awesome.. Love it. The MP someone said might have disappointed them, but I played an hour or so of MP last night and it was way better in terms of netcode and blinky blinky guys like in the mp beta.. I had no problems offing lots of people last night who were saying "wtf. wtf". Was great fun! I've got this game cranked full settings @ 1024x768 and it rocks. I've got zero lag even when taking on in excess of 5 baddies... Like to get a sound mod though, for when you kick someone off a ledge like at the castle. I'd really like to hear a splatt!!

P.S. Console, like most anything on Source shows missing materials and stuff... Really wish I knew why that happens and how to fix it. Unless that's bugs...

Any of you guys have a working SLI profile? The default SLI profile in nvapps is

<PROPERTY Label="multichip_rendering_mode" Value="3000001" Itemtype="predefined"/>

and the rest of the source games use

<PROPERTY Label="multichip_rendering_mode" Value="0x03C00009" Itemtype="predefined"/>

But it doesn't really matter which I use because the game never takes advantage of it. The SLI bar never shows up and there is never a fps increase by changing the SLI settings.

You sure that's not just performance related?

It wont show up if you have Vsync on, the game by default has it enabled...

FYI, it also defaults my GFX detail to medium in the advanced video settings every time even though it runs just fine on high. That could be related to my GTO though, since most things see the card as a GT/GTO so a lot of games seem to detect the card at lower settings than they should.

Same here,went to EB this morning,slapped down the ol' debit card and snagged it for 65 cdn.I have now put 5 hours into it and love it !! No
stuttering,no sound problems at all.1280x800 on my 2005FPW with everything maxed and its very smooth.I installed it onto my scsi raid array
and load times are pretty good.Only thing I did different was defrag before and after the install.

I don't think so, the game ran fine for every level I had it on but I had a section start stuttering so I just turned it off and the problem went away. I am still running a 6800GT so I won't rule out that it could be a performance problem. I won't be upgrading my PC till the spring since it isn't worth the cost of buying a new motherboard, RAM and PCI Express GFX card before the G80's come out and drop a bit in price.

6800GT isn't properly geared for HDR in terms of sheer power. I know that because I'm using a 6800GT as well myself
Note that I have generally another perception of games "running fine" and terms of "good FPS" compared to many (mostly mainstream) gamers

The performance is acceptable in some games, in others it isn't. Far Cry, for example, is far to demanding with HDR enabled. Some Source games work ok with HDR, but they ALL stutter once in a while in certian sitution

I won't rule it out totally, but I'm pretty sure it indeed is performance related, not game-code related..
