Default Fraps + Sony Vegas = Fun...some advice?!

Ok so i wanted to do some Fraps of WoW and i got a few of out it..next i used Sony to play arround with it..i got about a 1 min of videos with some nice editing added some music and now comes the problem..

If i use default Xvid as a compression with default settings..the 1 min comes out to be about 116MB.

Now i have seen other people use Xvid / etc so i am wondering if people can give me more advice on how to keep the quality at decent level and the file size to a decent size as well...i mean ive seen other videos of 300MB~ with about 20-25 mins in it under nice quality..so i am wondering if i am doing something wrong..

Also in Fraps i use full size..should i be using half size for recording?

Thanks.
