yea there are cops, and in multi play where you can be the cop, or in knock out races where each player that gets knocked out from the circuit becomes a cop and the 1st place racer has to do 2 laps without getting caught I believe.

NFS Carbon - Second Impressions

Performance

I'm on a P4 3.4 6800GT so I think the performance isn't that great, in fact it's pretty bad. But today I took the time to fiddle with the settings and if you turn a few things down you can get a good driving experience and enjoy the game.

Gameplay

I loved NFS Most Wanted and have played it all the way through twice so NFS Cabon isn't doing much for me. But I like the NFS series so I'm trying to like this one too. I played it several times this morning and after winning all three races it's sort of okay. I won't give it a high score but I've went from I won't buy it to I think I might let my sister-in-law get it for me as a birthday present next month. I think it could be fun but not anything like Most Wanted.

One thing that bothers me about the gameplay is the lack of a true feeling of going fast. Maybe with a different track that will get better. I'm a keyboard player too and not being able to re-map the keys is really bugging me, surly the full game can do that.

So for now my "hate" of NFS Carbon is put on hold and I'll give it a few more tries to see if I want it as a gift

What could really help is a review of the full game. Are there more options in the full game and can you turn off that stupid teammate

Yeah, and not being able to change the view doesn't help any. In NFSMW I always used the hood view. Makes me feel much more like the driver of the car rather than a spectator..

They did a terrible job on the demo but the full game might be some better. You can use the "C" key to change the view. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I may need to use it if I decide to purchase the game. I looked through the controls section but couldn't find it.

In NFS:MW, the view key was actually mappable to a button on my gamepad. In this, gamepad controls are far less mappable, and they don't even get saved when I exit and restart the demo.

I just hope the full version has many improvements..

For the most part I think they've always done a bad job with the NFS demos, at least to me they have. The demo should be exactly like the full version of the game but with limited gameplay, but everything else should be the same. I'm sure everything will be mappable in the full game. Or at least it better be.

I've played it a couple more times now and I still don't think it's a very good game. But I like the need for speed style of gameplay so I generaly buy all of them since there's so few good arcade racers.

Rubbishdemo IMO. The sad thing is this game is still going to sell well. EA could put hot steaming turds in boxes and people would still buy it.

Is this game any good at all? I thought Most Wanted was pretty decent, I didn't like Underground 1 or 2 (got bored of them very quickly). If this one's worse than Most Wanted, I'm not even gonna bother downloading the demo.

don't bother, this is even worse then underground

think of carbon this way

Undergound 1/2
+ weirder lighting
+ cars slide more
+ roads feel like ice
+ one of the most annoying announcer/idiot that won't shut up.
