Hello,
I have a new HP dv6119us dual core AMD notebook. I have Suse 10.1 loaded. I am trying to load up the nvidia GL driver. As this is a dual core machine I tried using the nvidia-gfx-kmp-smp kernel module. When I try to configure things in sax2 I get the following in the Xorg.99.log: (II) Setting vga for screen 0. (**) NVIDIA(0): Depth 24, (--) framebuffer bpp 32 (==) NVIDIA(0): RGB weight 888 (==) NVIDIA(0): Default visual is TrueColor (==) NVIDIA(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0) (**) NVIDIA(0): Enabling RENDER acceleration (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module! (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** (II) UnloadModule: "nvidia" (II) UnloadModule: "ramdac" (II) UnloadModule: "fb" (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. Any ideas on what the issue is? OS info: Linux XXXXX 2.6.16.21-0.25-smp #1 SMP Tue Sep 19 07:26:15 UTC 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux |

If this reproduces with the 1.0-9626 driver, please generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log.
Thanks, Lonni |

Thanks Lonni,
I loaded the 1.0-9626 driver and it appears to be working. Apparently, this is a beta driver. Any estimate when this might become official? I would like to use the normal Suse way of loading the driver so I don't have to recompile the driver every time I get a kernel. Thanks again eric |
