Hi All,
I have been having a LOT of trouble installing the nvidia driver in ubuntu edgy. It says I have xorg 7.1 so it should all be ok to use the beta driver. It doesn't matter which version of the driver I use - 8776 or the beta version 9625 - the same warning comes up: WARNING: You appear to be using a modular Xorg release, but nvidia-installer was unable to determine the correct X module installation path with the `pkg-config` utility. Please install the Xorg SDK/development package for your distribution. I press ok, then another message comes up that's very similar and after that everything seems to run ok, and x restarts fine, displays the spash screen etc etc. then when I reboot, when x starts up I get a nasty error saying that there is a driver mismatch and X doesn't load anymore. How can I fix this? |

Hang on, I think I've found something. I didn't install the xserver-dev package.
I try that first and see if anything different happens. |

Thanks for the help, I no longer get the warning, however that still didn't fix my problem of X not starting after installing the driver. I'll start another thread for that
