Default Help: Unknown device using Quadro FX 550 (Supported by nvidia drivers!)

Hi,

I have an nvidia quadro FX 550 card, which is apparently supported by the nvidia drivers (latest and beta at least). The Readme states (Quadro FX 550 0x014C).

When I run lspci, I get the following for the video card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 014d (rev a2)
The nvidia readme does NOT appear to support a device id of 0x014d.

My question:
*Is it possible to force the nvidia module to accept the video card despite having an unsupported device id? Or even modify the device id to 0x014c?

Thanks,
Michael.

lspci output is determined by the OS, not the nvidia driver. 1.0-8776 fully supports the Quadro FX 550.

Thanks,
Lonni

Hi Lonni,

Unfortunately the version supported by the binary 8776 (even 9625) nvidia driver support the Quadro FX 550 (with device id 0x014c). Mine is definitely a quadro FX 550 but has device id 0x014d (hence not supported by the driver).

When I try to insert the compiled module, I get an error and an error message stating an unsupported graphics card.

Please post the installer log that captures this error.
