Ehm..correction,

The pc version has :

- some polygon budget cutbacks ; character models ( i assume they wanted to keep it 'playable on gpu's with only 6 vertex pipelines )

- some texture degradation ; character models

- brightness / contrast : somehow it looks better on the X360

About the gamepad support ; my Logitech dual action doesn't work either.
It's a matter of preference, but i prefer to play SC with a gamepad. Aiming is not my priority in this game, having a tactile feel for sneaking is.

In all these shots you guys have these ridiculous (to me) resolutions, yet I run at half that resolution with all detail maxxed on my tiny 7600 and I see nothing in your shots that look better than mine. Makes me feel good, cuz I don't have to blow a wad of coin for little gain.

This game is pretty good though, entertaining to say the least. Some very strange body contortions and there are certain movements the guy makes where his head looks like it should be double the size.

No, you are. The Xbox 360 version looks better. End of story.

its tests? it has not presented any capture that we know that this made directly and without manipulating in the 360. I have presented/ my screens and video for pc - in my 1900 xtx, and Gamespot screens and videos -ingame -. You see something different in your 360?

Sorry to say so but ; nope.

I do 3D character modeling, I've worked on a Xb360 game as a 3D modeler ; i can 'read' ingame assets like character models ; thus i'm able to compare polygon budgets a bit better than anyone who doesn't know graphics.

Anyway, I made some comparison screens. The white outlines show the polygon quads / rows of poly edges. Always look at the silhouette to get an estimation of the model it's polygon count. As you can see ; the PC version is a clear downscale of polybudget compared to the Xbox360 version, and it's certainly not only that particular Sam model ; also NPC's and other ingame Same models which feature more polygons in the XB360 version. Some other dude posted Okhotst screens where you can clearly see the more detailed textures on the guard his trenchcoat arm ; the guard on PC version also features less polygons than on the XB360 version. Count the poly edge rows. Ubi tried to compensate the lack of polygons in the PC version by adding strong normal maps where polygon geometry would be in the Xbox360 version : but normal maps can't fool the eyes of a 3d modeler and gamers who want 100% value for money.

...and yes, the screens were taken on my PC (see sig) with "MAX Next Gen settings"
PC screenshot 01 : less polygons

PC screenshot 02 : less polygons

Xbox360 screenshot 01 : more polygons

PC versus XB360 screenshot : more polygons and better textures on XB360

Why does the PC version features lower polygon assets ? Well because of the lowest PC denominator : graphics cards of yesteryear like the 6800's with only 6 vertex pipelines ; those can't push the Xbox360's polygon budget.

Anyone who thinks the PC version = Xbox360 version, graphically speaking, or even better ; is fooling him/herself.

Great post Knot. Last two shots it is easy to see the high detail on the 360 version.

Would be nice if PC had the option to bump up the detail, but as it is now. Only 1900XTX's have a chance of running DA smoothly. 8800 would, but no joy so far

well, that pretty much settles it then.. I was half on the fence to get this game or not, since CT was only okay in my book. I'm not going to bother getting SCDA for PC.. and since I don't have a 360, I guess I'm not playing it.

I'm playing SC:CT right now. Will try again after that, perhaps they will have a new driver or patch.
