I currently use 3DMark2001 SE for my artifact testing. It seems like it's very sensitive to a stressed GPU due to the high FPS and accuracy needed for it. I see nothing in RTIBHDRL @430 when 2001 SE will artifact like mad.
If anyone knows of a more sensitive tool, let us know. I ask because I can run 05 & 06 at 435 no prob but 2001 no way. Is this a true limit shown in 2001? .

One of the tests in 3DMark05 use to be a good one for me (can't remember which one at the moment) and more recently, FEAR seems to heat up my system more than anything else.

With 2001 it might even be driver\directx incompatibilities considering how old that program is now. If you can play new games at high details without any artifacting id say let it go. Its probably just the program.

Actually, yeah, you're right. It heats things up a lot but I haven't seen any artifacts. In one of the 3DMarks, the scene that had turtles on the rocks always gave me artifacts when overclocking too far. I was thinking it was 3DMark05 but it may have been 03.

Yeah that’s 3DMark03 you’re thinking of, the nature demo with the butterfly.
I just hooked up an old monitor, my brand new samsung went out so I hooked up an LCD max res 1024x768 then 06 came out and I had to have 1280x1024 so I could pull a good run I scored 2823 3.08 & 434/1113. Eehh not bad but no artifacts. Do you guys ever see artifacts or snow in RTIBHDRL?

i think I read @ tweakguides,
the first few seconds (when its panning out from the river) of the mother nature test in 3dmark03 is a good way to tell. You can see artifacts very easily in the water.

Ever use ATITool? It has a built-in artifact tester that supposedly is sensitive to artifacts ("deltas" in the program) that aren't even visible to the eye. Also heats up the card pretty significantly.

The best CPU stability test is Doom3 - or it is for me.
Prime95, sandra, memtest etc can all run fine but D3 will artifact if I clock the CPU to high. As for GPU I always found the 3rd test in 05 to be the best.
