Hi all,
I just installed FC6 and tried out the new beta driver and desktop effects. Things work fairly well except that the beta driver does not use the proper widescreen resolution for my monitor. I have a Xerox XR6-19Dw 19" widescreen LCD that should run at 1440x900. I am using DVI output from my GeForce 6600GT card. The latest non-beta driver (8776) works at the correct resolution. Has anyone else seen this? Is this just a bug with the beta driver? Is there someway I can work around this, or what information should I supply so that this can be fixed in the released driver? |

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6 and then generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log. Thanks, Lonni |

Hi Lonni,
Okay, that's done. By the way, you might mention to use the nvidia-bug-report.sh tool as I only found out about it from another thread I was reading. Anyway, I've included a zip file with the one from the beta driver and from the 8776 driver (with the added .good). Looking at the EDID sections of the Xorg.0.log files for each, they look the same, however the conclusions are different. Both try to validate two modes: 1440x900 (the desired mode) and 1280x1024. From the 8776 driver, I get: (WW) NVIDIA(0): Mode is rejected: Mode (1280 x 1024) is too large for DFP (WW) NVIDIA(0): EDID (Max: 1440 x 900). And from the 9626 driver, I get: (WW) NVIDIA(0): Mode is rejected: Mode (1440 x 900) is too large for DFP (WW) NVIDIA(0): EDID (Max: 1280 x 1024). Anyway, hope this helps. Is there anything I can do to get this working for now? I played around some with adding a ModeLine but did not get anywhere with that. Do I need to add the IgnoreEDID option? Jonathan By the way, I've noticed you on the Fedora mailing list and just wanted to say thanks for being involved there. I think it's cool to see developers who take the time to wade through the mailing list . |

Nevermind, just answered my own questions... Apparently this is the same issue:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=79578 Adding: Option "ModeValidation" "NoEdidDFPMaxSizeCheck" to my xorg.conf allows me to use the right resolution |
