Default 9625 bug? Extreme slowdowns in Wings3D

I am running Kubuntu 6.10 with a GeforceGo 7700 and the latest Beta Linux driver, overall the performance seems to be ok but in Wings3D ( www.wings3d.com ) I have massive slowdowns while in edit mode, which didn't happen with any older driver.
The general rotation and scaling speed doesn't seem to have the problem, but the automatic face selection & highlight and the switch to scaling and rotating is extremely delayed.

You might try the instrumented driver that comes with NVPerfKit to see if Wings3D is hitting a slow path for some reason: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nvperfkit_home.html
