I use compiz and 9xxx nvidia drivers. Because of my cursor diseapper with HWCURSOR option, now I used SWCURSOR option in xorg.conf file.
But since I use compiz , I get strange graphic bug ( a square around my cursor who redraw old thing). look at the screen for more details. thank for help. Last edited by bodman; 11-15-06 at 10:07 AM. Reason: REALLY BAD TITLE ! |

This is most often a BIOS bug with C51 GPUs. First verify that you're using the latest BIOS. Then check in the BIOS for the amount of VRAM/Framebuffer that is allocated, and increase it.
Thanks, Lonni |

I've a ASUS M2NPV-VM, With my older bios i used a 128Mo framebuffer. I just update my bios and I can incease it to 256Mo, that I did. Despite, I've again this graphic bug. But i made a really important error in my topic, I use SWCURSOR option !!! because with HWCURSOR option I can't see mouse's cursor. |

Bandaid fix...
1. Enable SWCursor or disable HWCursor in your xorg.conf 2. Start X, I did a hard reboot on fedora here... 3. go back to your xorg.conf and enable HWCursor 4. restart X (CTRL+ALT+Backspace) you should have the HW accelerated mouse now without artifacts behind it. This was the only fix I have been able to muster with the new nvidia beta drivers and new fedora core 6 update. You will have to do this every time if either your mouse cursor disappears, or you are getting artifacts. |

Is there a fix for this yet? I am tempted to vear off the path of YUM and download the latest drivers but then my YUM updates for Nvidia will be broken. Not a big loss if all works well on the first shot. Does the latest nvidia release (9746)address and fix this cursor problem?
Currently have 9631 installed. The latest release from fedora 6 updates. Using the BioStar GeForce6100-M9 with AMD X2 4400 ~trode |
