The installer doesn't like dash... (more specifically conftest.sh)

Which means it doesn't work for users of edgy eft and feisty fawn. (unless you symlink /bin/sh back to /bin/bash instead of /bin/dash)

What specifically is failing with dash? Are you reporting that this problem wasn't present for any drivers previous to 1.0-9742 ?

Thanks,
Lonni

Yes, worked with 96.29, 96.26 and 96.25. One way to fix it from your part is to change the /bin/sh to /bin/bash. I got tired of general dash breakage and changed my sh symlink to bash (far from the first script to break)

Edit:
This breaks..
"dash ./conftest.sh "cc" "cc" /lib/modules/2.6.19-5-generic/build /lib/modules/2.6.19-5-generic/build select_makefile full_output"
this does not..
"bash ./conftest.sh "cc" "cc" /lib/modules/2.6.19-5-generic/build /lib/modules/2.6.19-5-generic/build select_makefile full_output"

outputs :
"[: 896: ==: unexpected operator"

Edit2:
Seems to be in the select_makefile case option..

Geforce 3 Ti 200 is shown as unsupported by this driver? Everything worked in 9625, although 9629 had a problem mentioned here http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=79703 . What I am trying to ask here is -> Is it possible to still keep using the drivers 1.0-9742 onwards for geforce 3 Ti 200 ? Would I be able to use beryl/compiz without aiglx or xgl with the legacy drivers?

That is correct. Starting with 1.0-9742, all NV2x & older (NV1x & NVx) GPUs will only be supported in the legacy driver branches (1.0-7184 & 1.0-9629).

The texture_from_pixmap GLX extension is available in 1.0-9629.

Thanks,
Lonni

@Lithorus: thanks for the report; I looked at the problem briefly and it looks like it's caused by the statement on line 350 of conftest.sh; it can be fixed by changing the line as follows:

- if [ "$RET" == "0" ]; then
+ if [ "$RET" = "0" ]; then

I have problem both with 1.0-9742 and 9629 ... when system log in to KDE these drivers DON`T read config files ... when I choose high quality in OGL or turn on or off some option ... after reboot drivers don`t use it and in nvpanel show only standard configuration ... of course config file is right ... but drivers don`t use it ... where is the problem ?

IIRC to read config you have to run
Quote:
nvidia-settings --readconfig
or something similar. You can put it to autostart to make it automatic.

Kinda weird since the "$RET" == "0" *should* be correct as this is the way it's done in C and the likes. Guess this isn't the case and dash takes it very literally. Maybe it's taken from csh..

Hence I wento to 9629, but I still get black windows.

Is this problem solved in any other driver release.

Thanks in advance.
