Default No GeForce4 420 Go support in 1.0-9742?

Hi there,

I would like to run Beryl on my Ubuntu machine (a laptop). I had the black screen problem with the previous beta and feel very disappointed that I am unlikely to ever run Beryl on my laptop.

Does the whole screen turn black upon invocation of beryl/compiz or do only certain windows become black if you have many windows open (while running one of the two compositing/window-managers)?

Best regards...

Yes, the whole screen, though it doesn't seem to kill X. My guess is that as I was running at native resolution on my laptop screen (1600x1200) and was using 24bpp that I experienced the same issue as the black windows problem, but on the root window. (Oh, and I applied the patch (i2c? - can't remember full details as this was over a month ago) that was supposed to fix this issue too.)

Same here, 9742 says it does not support my card. I keep on getting black windows (not black screen) with 9629 ...

I am running a Toshiba Satellite pro 6100 and am seeing the same problem. The nv driver works great (1400x1050) but the nvidia 9629 leaves me with a black screen that gradually turns white .

Please let me know if you find any solutions.
