OK Lonni,

I've done that and the screen is still the same size as previously.

The backend size in nvidia-settings now says 969x768 but the front end is 800x600 still.

I've attached the logs again.

I'm positive this monitor should run at 1024x768 though (it does under windows and does with the nv driver).
