Hi,
I wonder how the beta drivers deal with GL apps in a GL window manager (in this post I'll use compiz as an example). 1. If I start an OpenGL application in Compiz, does it have full access to the OpenGL extensions? In Xgl, OpenGL apps had to use Mesa. 2. Is the rendering still copied over to a pixmap, or does the driver render now directly into a pixmap which is passed via EXT_texture_from_pixmap to Compiz? 3. Is the driver stable regarding GL apps in GL window manager? Or is this a known TODO? 4. Are framebuffer objects OK to use? Or do they confuse the beta driver? This matters to me because I program with OpenGL and GLSL. I don't want to go through the entire installation just to find out that it doesnt work (using Ubuntu, I have to remove the nvidia-glx and the restricted modules first). |
