Unhappy So close on my Toshiba now.

Ihave installed the new driver and now have a screen on my LCD that I can use, sort of.

But.. its only letting me use a resolution of about 800 x 600 (I say about because its got the corner cut off the moniter (black line down the side basically)) and I simply can't get it to run at 1024 x 768.

I tried adding a mode line to the xorg.conf file, but it made no difference at all.

The maximum I can select using the settup program is 800 x 600.

Any ideas from here?

The bug report is attached.

Ta.

Peter.

Just update the kernel and broke everything.

I just installed the new kernel from MDK and re-installed NVIDIA and now I 'm back to not having anything on the LCD at all.

It looks fantastic with Beryl on the CRT, except that I no longer have any window decorations again... sigh.

Nearly ready to give up on this.

Any ideas?? Please??

Peter.

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate and post a new bug report.

Thanks,
Lonni

OK Lonni, thanks so much for your interest.

Have started with the log level at 6, grabbed the log file and also run bug-report.

The files are attached.

I'm currently running on the CRT at 1024 x 768 but no window decorations for some reason... but the logs were from at attempt to start on the LCD.

You've disabled the EDID detection, which means that all bets are off:
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "UseEDID" "False"

You need to have the EDID enabled in order for any useful information to be captured.

The new bug report wasn't generated after running the startx command I provided.

Red face Re: So close on my Toshiba now.

OK.. here's where I'm at.

I uninstalled all other nvidia stuff I could get my hands on (rpm's etc that seem to be hanging around).

I then reinstalled the latest driver and set UseDevice to the LCD monitor, so, I now have the LCD back again at 800 x 600 (with a black line down the right side) with no window decorations.

Better than a black screen, just.

Logs attached.

According to your bug report, the EDID for your DFP lists only the following mode:
(--) NVIDIA(0): Detailed Timings:
(--) NVIDIA(0): 969 x 768 @ 60 Hz
(--) NVIDIA(0): Pixel Clock : 65.00 MHz
(--) NVIDIA(0): HRes, HSyncStart : 969, 1048
(--) NVIDIA(0): HSyncEnd, HTotal : 1184, 1344
(--) NVIDIA(0): VRes, VSyncStart : 768, 771
(--) NVIDIA(0): VSyncEnd, VTotal : 777, 806
(--) NVIDIA(0): H/V Polarity : -/-

Can you try requesting a 969x768 mode?

OK.. thanks for this information Lonni,

how do I request this resolution?

I know the monitor native resolution is 1024 x 768 though.

Put 969x768 in the list of modes in your xorg.conf.
