Hi guy, i'm new in this forum and new in ubuntu, i'm italian and then i'm sorry for my poor english.
So, i've this problem i have a htpc equipped with nvidia Gf6150 linked with 16:9 lcd tv toshiba 32wl56p by cable dvi--->hdmi. In ubuntu i've the same problem that i found in xp, desktop in resolution like 1280x720 is too big respect visible image. In xp i've solved by underscan/overscan then the resolution is still 1280x720 but the desktop area is reduced to 1216x684 and centered, so all ok. In ubuntu i don't find this option in nvidia control panel (nvidia-settings) and i can't set the resolution out of the classic/edid resolution then res like 1216x684 is refused by the system in system xlog. I've attach the jpeg for xp settings. |

This has been discussed a few times before on this forum.
It looks like this feature is not available in the Linux driver. You will have to live with it, or hope it will be implemented in a future version. |

I've solved the BIG TROUBLE!?!?!?
I've insert these 2 lines in xorg.conf in Monitor section: ModeLine "1216x684" 74.2 1216 1356 1396 1650 684 707 712 750 -hsync -vsync Option "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "true" and then in Devices section i've add the modes "1216x684". Now all is ok. Thanks. ![]() |
