Default Problem with 7800GS and nvidia driver

I installed latest kubuntu version with no problems. but when switching to nvidia glx driver and rebooting, the screen stays black. If I try to reboot with a reset wether linux nor windows will switch to graphical mode. I have to switch off the computer and turn it on again.

I do not have much know-how with linux, so I am not sure which information to post.
I have a Gainward 7800 GS AGP. Find attached my zipped nvidia-bug-report.log.
Thanks for any help.

Default Re: Problem with 7800GS and nvidia driver

Your log shows a run using the "nv" driver. Does that work and not the "nvidia" driver? If you want to use nvidia drivers post a bug report after a run using their drivers. How to configure X this way is in the readme.
