Am I blind or is it no longer free?

Yes I am surprised they are no longer free, I downloaded Professional Edition last week. Now they charge $9.99 to clean out your drivers.

Pfft...thats such a remedial function, you hardly even need software to do it. In fact I do this all the time and I think I've only used drivercleaner once.

Yeah, I noticed this today also.

Majorgeeks.com still hosts the last version though (1.5 Pro), if you need it.

No kidding. What could they possibly have changed so much to the original program that they deem it necessary to charge for it now?

Not much considering I have both the most recent free version and the original version installed and the only thing changed is the interface... I don't see it doing anything different.

They just decided they wanted to take a commercial interest in it. Nothing wrong with that, but its just pretty silly considering how remedial it is.

Do people actually buy stuff like this?

I've bought some of the more useful, powerful or original shareware I've used over the years (like RedEdit98 for C&C:Red Alert, Game Maker, Adventure Maker, Glidos DOS mode glide emulator) but little utilities like this just don't seem worth it.

I'm sure they put a lot of time into the program and it probably works great (I havent used it in years) but really... I can't imagine anyone needing this bad enough to buy it.

While I understand the need for a free version (still available elsewhere btw) I don't understand the fuss about a measly $10 to keep the development of such a great tool going. There is no denying that it saves a great deal of time and I have personally seen it help users out countless of times on the forums. If you don't like the idea that you are paying for it, you can always consider the price a small donation for the guys time. Of course all of the above is just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it
