quadro fx 4500 stereo inversion

I'm having stereo inversion problems with a pair of quadro fx 4500's and a g-sync card, in a Dell Precision 690. The cards will framelock (using internal sync) about 70% of the time. When they do I get stereo inversion. Verified in 8774, 8776, 9629, 9631 under SuSE 10.1 x86_64. The stereo connection is via RG-59 coax to a Barco DLP projector and then to a Stereographics emitter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Right now I wish our glasses could be easily flipped upside down...

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean by stereo inversion. Are the eyes getting swapped in the stereo glasses?

Does this problem only reproduce with the Barco projector (and not CRTs)?
Which stereo app(s) reproduce this behavior?

Yes. Left image goes to right eye and right image to left eye. Turning the glasses upside down gives the correct image.

Unable to verify this as we don't have a stereo capable CRT available.

A couple of VTK apps and Paraview.

Attached. I had to pull this one remotely after hours. The system was sitting in the KDE login screen and nvidia-settings was not running, thus no framelock. I can grab another tomorrow when it's live.

You stated "Unable to verify this as we don't have a stereo capable CRT available." All CRTs are 'stereo capable', so I'm not sure that I understand what you're referring to, unless you mean that you have no CRTs. Per the driver README, only CRTs are guaranteed to work reliably with stereo.

In your X log I see:
(WW) NVIDIA(GPU-1): Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-0
(WW) NVIDIA(GPU-1): Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-1

Do you know why the EDID for the display devices cannot be read?

Also, the driver is detecting two CRTs, yet, you are using the ExactModeTimingsDVI & Allow DFPStereo options, which are both reserved for DFPs. Can you clarify this?

I have a few questions/suggestions:
0) Please rename your 1280x1024 modeline to something unique so that it can be more easily tracked in the X log.
1) If you set the ForceStereoFlipping option instead of the XineramaStereoFlipping option in xorg.conf, does that have any impact on the problem?
2) Does this problem persist with the 1.0-9742 driver?
