Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on PLAYSTATION 3!?
December 6th, 2006 Posted by MarkMan

Word out of Japan is a popular gaming magazine has indicated the next game from the Tekken franchise will be none other than Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on the PS3!? Early reports note that it will be based off the arcade version of the game.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is said to be a downloadable game and the release date and pricing is yet to be determined. The news snippet also mentioned that the game will feature high definition graphics and a playable Jinpachi.

Modes confirmed are Arcade Mode, Ghost Battle, and Gallery Mode.

More information as it develops!

Just tell me the date and I'm there. Tekken > every other fighter imo.

Thats kool and all but why not just play Tekken 5 for the Ps2 on the PS3 since its almost perfect arcade port (considering that the hardwares were similar).

Well then your gf has a good head on her shoulders. Name another fighter better than tekken and I'll laugh at your face.

HD resolution, more additions than regular tekken 5 (more characters), no discs needed.

Nah... Street fighters haven't been very good lately... I always enjoyed Tekken, though... I played part 3 on PS1 for like... ever... and when I got the PS2 I bought TTT right away and got pretty good with Hwaorang (argh I hate spelling that :\).. but now it has been a while since I played one so I would be so freaking rusty... only fighting game I like more than Tekken is... MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2!!!!!!!!!

If Sony could get THAT on the PSN store... I would buy it for 2 BILLION DOLLARS!

street fighter is easily the best 2d fighter (next to good ol mortal kombat), but capcom has seemed to ignore the potential the game still has. They should really do a remake, with high res assets imo.

KoF is being redone with hi-res sprites for the anniversary, I would not be shocked to see a Street Fighter done the same way for their anniversary.

Yeah this was from this weeks batch of news from Famitsu magazine.
I really can not wait for this.

I would hope so. Capcom could make some mean cash off a next gen street fighter (of course hoping it does not turn out like the ps2 3d one).

Personal opinion so I guess I can't knock you on that, but I find Soul Calibur really unbalanced as far as gameplay goes. Virtua Fighter is also great, but I never could get into the characters as much (is there even a story to the game?). Look, I'm not saying these other fighters suck or anything, just I find tekken superior in every way (from gameplay, story, balance, extra features, etc).

he PS3 version will feature full 1080p visuals and the playable debut of boss character Jinpachi, who was unplayable in the arcade version.
Now that makes it worth it! Even though the original PS2 version didn't look low res this would make it look FAR better. And the PS3 can easily handle it considering that the PS2 ran the game at 60FPS and it still was one of the best looking fighters on the previous generation.
