Default Resolution issue with 96**

Hello,

I've been using the 87** branch successfully for some time with my Geforce 6200, and decided lately to switch to the 96***.

Problem is, no mode is recognized, and I'm left out with a 800*600@50 Hz, which I find to be curious, as I had no problem using a 1280*1024@85 Hz before.

The nvidia-bug-report is attached, I hope someone could point me in the right direction, I'm a bit lost there.

Thanks

It looks like the EDID for your CRT isn't getting detected properly. Could you post a bug report against 1.0-8776 where this problem isn't present?

Are you using a KVM, or any other intermediary devices between the graphics card & CRT?
Also, what kind of CRT are you using?

Thanks,
Lonni

The driver cannot find any EDID info for your monitor;

Quote:
(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on GeForce 6200 at PCI:1:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(0): @@@ (CRT-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): @@@ (CRT-0): 400.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
You could try using;

Quote:
Option "UseEDID" "FALSE"
Check out http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-d.html for other options that may help.

I don't really know what you're talking about, so I guess the answer would be no.

My monitor is an old one (2001), I'm not even sure I know it's specs. It's not a flat screen, if that's what you wanted to know

The EDID trick worked well, at least I can use my computer now, thanks.

I'll install the 8778 drivers and post a new report in a moment.
Thanks for your answers.

I'm curious about the specific brand & model of the CRT to see if I had the same here to reproduce this problem.

Thanks,
Lonni

So I just reinstalled the 1.0-8776 drivers, here is the nvidia-bug-report.log you asked for.

Hope this helps.

According to this 1.0-8776 bug report, the EDID isn't getting detected either:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-0

So either your CRT has no EDID, or its mangled. I'm afraid that setting UseEDID to false is the only solution.

Thanks,
Lonni
