Thanks. After upgrading to 1.3, things are rocking! Pegged at 60 most of the time and in the 40s where I had 27 or 28 before. I thought I had the latest patch installed but obviously not.

Gothic 3 is still screwed up form me with sli 8800GTX and 680i.

Like you said about Call of Juarez OWA, shodows flicker on an off the same in Gothic 3 for me, wheras before on a 975 chipset with only 1 x 8800GTX I didn't have this problem.

I posted this in the DOD:Source forums a couple of weeks ago. Pics show the fog bug in source games. I'm currently using the 97.02 drivers. (You'l also probably notice that the AA is crap based on the fence on the left side of pic#2.)

------------------------------
This week, I rebuilt my system (including swapping out my 7900GTX for a 8800GTX), and reformatted/reinstalled Windows. Yesterday, I got around to trying out DOD:S on the new system, I noticed that the distance haze has a bizarre effect on objects and players.

It's almost like the haze is being treated as a mask (an alpha channel issue?) that causes things to just become more gray the further away they get/are.

I'm willing to accept that this might be a driver issue with the 8800GTX, but I was curious to see if anyone else was seeing this effect.

Here are some pics:

Notice the areas point to by the yellow arrows. This also happens to player figures. The maps where this is most noticeable are Kalt, Donner, and Flash.

Does anyone else see this effect at all?

Vampire: Bloodlines seems to crash way often (within 10mins) with these, with the 97.02 I was able to run the game just fine.

There are slowdowns when approaching the glowing jump pad and where there are a lot of lights in a corridor. I tried the same map with my 7900GTs and they were smooth as glass with this map. I did notice the coronas around the lights and jump pad were diplayed differently on the 8800 GTS than on the 7900GTs. The 7900's seem to blend the coronas better than the 8800. I will try to post screen shots later.
I can confirm this on my 8800 GTX and it occurs with both 97.44 and 97.02. It only occurs on some maps (mostly community maps as you mentioned) and did not occur on my 7900 GTX which I had previously in the same machine.

Other than these stutters, my frame rates are in the upper 200 range most of the time at 1600x1200, 16x AA, 16x AF. Lowering settings and changing the resolution has no effect. I have absolutely no issues with any other game and have been overall extremely happy with the 8800 GTX and these drivers.

Would someone mind reporting this issue to NVIDIA?

Now, now, don't badger the witness.

BTW, are his pics showing the fog issue?

A few more games that worked nicely here: Armed Assault (some performance issues, but probably a game bug), GTR2 and Race (both games based on the rfactor/ISI2 engine), and Need for Speed Carbon (with 97.02) ran nicely with rare/minor slowdowns which seem again more like a game bug instead of a driver bug.

Ok, here are the screenshots of Just Cause - the only driver for the 8800s that doesnt do this are the CD drivers that came with the card. There is basically a line where there is a noticable color change that makes it look like a shadow moving away from you the whole time. Its annoying.

Using 4x AA / 16x AF, GC on, Multisample Trans on. (settings dont matter though)

Zoomed in...
