Odd, the game never drops below 60 fps here, 1280x1024 4xAA 16xAF. Did you completely remove the previous driver (files and registry entries)?

Thanks and you'll have to re-read my edited post. I get the same FPS average you do, actually 70-75+ unless I add AA-AF then I get your 60 average and that's great So it looks like nVIDIA is trying to address these issues, and I hope they address the older quake 3 engine based games that are messed up on these cards (COD-COD/UO-MOHAA). nVIDIA needs to address them more quickly though these cards have been out for a while now. It wasn't nice having that game sitting there on steam and I couldn't play it but now I can. However I also have the COD series on steam too and I can't play those because of the issues.

I'm pretty sure they'll fix the CoD/MoH issues eventually. I emailed Nvidia tech support a couple of months ago regarding the Thief issue and now it has been fixed.

I sure hope they do. We should mail them together about it and point them to this thread (or I will) if they're not already reading it. Surely there' one NV rep around here

It seems that it glitches sometimes on BF 2142; weird 2-d pixelated images would pop out of nowhere. Maybe my card needs cooling

Just bring your fan up to 75-80% in Riva Tuner that should work.

Most likely it has already been reported but I couldn't find the time to read the whole thread.
My card is a 320MB 8800GTS. CPU is a E6600.
With Oblivion, btw the only game I play, I get a huge drop in fps after some 10 minutes of playing, going from between 40 and 60 to between 15-20. Alt+Tab out and in the game again restores it for another 10 minutes. This issue is also discussed in other threads and forums.
Tried a XFX and a EVGA. Same problem with both.
Definitely NOT a power or a heat issue (card is 80*C under load and 600W psu). Clean install of Windows and have tried different drivers, always removing the old ones and running DCP.
Regret very much having bought a NVidia card this time.

Well, with forums filling up about the issues and yet the card getting high ratings and reviews, there is no way that NV can let it sit there and not do anything about it because there are hundreds of thousand of people that have bought and are buying these cards. I would suggest that this site owner and a few of the mods point these threads to some other hardcore forums (and some tech news only sites that some of us don't like but will get the word out in bold red lettering for everyone to see) that have these issues and have a sort of mega forum conference thread that links all of these threads, and have these sites test the cards in these games objectively in these games -- there's no way they won't see the dramatic drops in frame rates not to mention near completely broken games in COD-MOHAA.

I think I want a 2900XT....

ATI has done more in 2 driver revisions to improve performance and fix problems, then Nvidia has since the conception of the 8800....

I wished that the shop where I bought my XFX8800GTS and where I already exchanged it once for an EVGA, had the ATI2900 in stock. Then I would immediately try to get the ATI.
I am really frustrated now. I spend more time testing and trying different drivers and supposed fixes than playing games now.

The only thing I can suggest to you guys is that if you have a good warranty with your e-tailer or eVGA-XFX etc .... may be to downgrade to a 7950GT or something or any other card (ATI) that has a standard memory size (256-512) and more mature drivers until it's apparent that NV both publicly recognizes this issue and also addresses it. We're going to have to speak with wallets and in and mainstream tech press (websites). I still haven't reordered and picked out what I want (still waiting for newegg to credit me for my 8800 GTS). I'm thinking of just going with the eVGA 7900GS (huge downgrade but 7950 512's are too expensive now on most websites for an older card) until this entire thing has been addressed by NV. At least I can play all of my games but I'll have to use my older CRT sitting in my closet with the 7900GS to get respectable frame rates.

The most frustrating thing imo is that there is apparently no way to contact NVidia directly to report this problem.
When you click on Feedback you are told that this module is still under construction (just like their crappy products ?).
