Gothic 3 is unplayable with 8800GTX sli on Striker 680i, shadows flashing on and off all over the place, flickering textures all over the place. WTF are Nvidia doing!!!!, release some bloody drivers that work with sli ffs.

I too have frequent pauses in some UT2004 maps, especially several CTF maps:
CTF-FP-Dying Honor
CTF-Stargate-Oblivion-Revamped
CTF-ShogunCE
All three above are mainly indoor maps with lots of detail. They played great on my old GeForce 7800 (though at a lower res and settings) without any pauses. (Some other maps have a few pauses, like during fragging early on, but then it tends to smooth out after a few minutes of playing time on the map.) Lowering the res and the game graphic settings has no effect on this problem, and running my 8800 GTX and my Intel Core 2 Duo CPU at stock speeds doesn't help, so it seems to be an Nvidia driver problem for the 8800 GTX. Strangly enough, some other very complex maps do not have this problem of pauses. CTF-Sobek and CTF-Semiramis - both very complex in design - have none. Also, none of the deathmatch and Onslaught maps I tested have this problem.
If anyone comes up with a solution to this pausing problem in UT2004, please let me know. I suspect we'll all end up just waiting on Nvidia.
My setup:
EVGA 680i SLI mb
2 Gigs Corsair XMS DDR2 RAM
Intel E6600 CPU (normally run at just 3 GHz)
EVGA GeForce 8800 CTX (normally run at 600/925)
SB X-Fi sound card
WD 500GB SATA hd

Myself and another previous poster can verify the issues with UT2004.

Can anyone confirm that Nvidia is aware of all of this? I find this very unusual for Nvidia to have all these driver issues.

Re: UT2004 pausing issue
I've emailed to EVGA Customer Support a description of the issue with UT2004. I'm going to try doing the same directly to Nvidia. Hopefully, they come up with a driver fix.

Exclamation Re: Summary of 8800 Game Issues

Hey guys,

1.5 weeks ago my new PC arrived (C2D + ASUS GF8800 GTS).
I love to play UT2004 and at first I installed 97.02 and noticed that I couldn't take screenshots in UT2004 anymore.
I got all black *.bmps, then I installed the latest 97.44 and it is still the same.
So I would like to ask you guys if anybody has the same probs or is it just me?
Because I don't see a reason why that has been happening when taking a screenshot. I didn't install any crappy mods or so. Just the patches and bonuspacks, that's all.

Another question, what do you guys think about the drivers of the manufacturers? Should I install the latest ASUS approved drivers instead of nVidia's ForceWare?

Thanks in adavance.

Have you tried taking screenshots with FRAPS or are you just using the default screen capture with UT 2004?

I second that - try fraps.

I get the same HDR+AA problems in Far Cry with the 97.28s. So far, I haven't seen the Oblivion glitch in 97.28 though. It happened so seldom with the 97.44s, I'm not sure if it's okay in the 28s or not though.

Just got my XFX 8800GTS. With 97.44 drivers (have not installed/tried others) the Oblivion glitch is very obvious and occurs frequently when outdoors. I don't have the problem in buildings or underground (caves, forts) so far, but also, some areas seem overly bright, like wayshrines and the exterior of Ayleid ruins. I do seem to have some lines on the floor of caves, as if areas aren't being "stitched together" properly.

Running at 1920x1200, HDR, no AA on a Dell 2407WFP.

TR: Legends looks great at 1920x1200 with everything turned on. I tried 3DMark06 1.10, but after the first test (Return to Proxycon) the program shifted back and forth between a black screen and the desktop (at what appeared to be several resolutions) and then locked on a black screen.

I'm off to try out Quake 4 and HL2:Episode One. The speed of the card is phenominal, but the drivers, IMO, are about 80% of where they ought to be at this point.
