hypnatos,

the xorg.conf you attached does not use the nvidia drivers (which this forum is about). You are using the "nv" driver, which comes with Xorg. You should be using the "nvidia" driver. Please read the sticky notes at the top of this forum, and read the READ me that comes with the nvidia drivers. There are also a lot of examples out there with good xorg.conf's.

I'm sorry, but I replaced the line Driver "nv" with Driver "nvidia" and added the line Load "glx"in module section in my original working xorg.conf file, from the README,after restart X it showed black screen to me.

You're still using the 'nv' X driver in this bug report. I'll need to see a bug report against the 'nvidia' X driver.

Thanks,
Lonni

I have tried to format the partition and reinstall Fedora Core6,and at the first time installed NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9631-pkg1.run,with the nvidia-xconfig auto configed xorg.conf file, starting X,the black screen remains...
Here are my new log files, the xorg.conf file is nvidia-xconfig one

The nvidia-bug-report.log includes the other two files, so you only need to attach the first file.

This is definitely a problem:

Code:
WARNING: You appear to be using a modular X.Org release, but nvidia-installer
was unable to determine the correct X library installation path with
the `pkg-config` utility. Please install the X.Org SDK/development
         package for your distribution.
WARNING: nvidia-installer was unable to determine the correct X library
installation path and will install the NVIDIA X libraries to
         '/usr/lib'.
and might be (read: is) the reason for:

Code:
(II) LoadModule: "glx"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module glx
(II) UnloadModule: "glx"
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (module does not exist, 0)
You said you did a re-install - did you re-do the things listed in
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490 ?

It seems that (at least) xorg-x11-server-sdk is missing.

A piece of advise: until those warnings about not being able
to load glx and the nvidia kernel module are gone, I advise you
to uninstall the nvidia drivers prior to installing anything, including
reinstalling the nvidia drivers. For example, before installing xorg-x11-server-sdk you should:

./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9631-pkg1.run --uninstall

prior to reinstalling. This might not be needed - but it won't hurt either.
Then, after reinstalling - check the installer logs for warnings

I looked briefly at your log, and it looks like your installation is ok now.
However - I can't comment on your remaining problem because for some reason the include of the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file is cut off: it seems incomplete.
Is your /var/log partition full? Can you look at this file directly and see if it ends the same way as what is included in the attached bug report?

I have to go now,
Alaric

Does this problem persist with 1.0-9742?
Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS for the motherboard?

Thanks,
Lonni
