netllama, what would you need to further investigate this issue?

logs? tests? outputs of any particular command? Any debugging application we can run on our boxes? photos of the TV output to see the downgraded resolution?

I'm just trying to be constructive and willing to help - Please let me know what info can I give to you/nVidia to try to get this solved as it's a very annoying issue and a stopper for buying more nvidia products in the future.

It is disappointing that this fault has not been addressed in the latest release given the numerous posting and that this issue has been around for many months. I would guess that this issue is related to the following thread:

It worked fine with the nvidia driver at that time, but freevo was buggy, so a couple of weeks ago I decided to upgrade to openSUSE 10.2 and to completely reinstall Freevo. The current nvidia driver works fine displaying to a monitor but TV-out looks like its swapping the A and B fields so everything has jagged edges and text is unreadable. I submitted a bug report to nvidia and last Friday heard that they had been able to reproduce the problem. They wanted to know what was the last driver I had that was working, and I had foolishly deleted the install for the old driver but was able to deduce that it was current as of August 2003.

I'm still waiting to hear back from them.

It sounds like you did a lot of stuff to try and get this working, and I'm hoping to avoid all that you went through. If you had it to do over, what would you try?

Thanks,

James Simmons
In that thread it is claimed that the NVidia had reproduced the problem. Has that issue been resolved in 9639?

Question...several users on this forum including myself have been wrestling with significant tearing issues when displaying 1080i video content at 1080i unless the underlying player is set to deinterlace the content...in my case this is via the DVI output and a much newer chipset (GeForce 7100GS) and the 1.0.9755 driver.

Is this possibly related to this bug? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Added a bug report file.

Tom

This should be fixed in the next 1.0-96xx legacy series driver release. No release date has been scheduled at this time.

THANKS!!

Finally all is working and tv output is perfect.

I'm not very sure, but maybe the useDisplayDevice option is broken, or maybe is just that something has changed, doesn't bother me.

Thanks!
