Default Can you install real games (ie COD4/Crysis) on a flash drive?

My old flash drive died so i just recently bought a 16gb flash drive and wanted to put it to some good use. I'm on the computer most of my classes during school and being a senior already accepted into college not really looking into doing the work assigned if any.

So my question is can you install real games, like not flash ones, but real ones? For example crysis, cod4, age of empires, etc. I'm pretty sure you could install it to the flash drive but what about the registry keys? are those necessary for the game to run, and if so is there a way to get them on the new computer?

It should install normally, but it'd probably only work on the computer that you installed it on.

Lots of games used to work fine without registry keys, but it seems like newer games rely more on external settings (registry, my documents, AppData etc.).

The main issue is that it'd probably be slow as hell.

Its worth a try though.

Most games require not only the registry setting, but setting in Documents and settings (Users for Vista). You can always try it. Old Unreal based games would probably work ok.

EDIT: nvm CaptN beat me.

WoW runs fine without registry keys. I should know, it's survived 30+ reinstalls

If you do get it running, be aware that you may reduce your thumb drives life expectancy.

These drives are made for reading data not the constant read/write.

Hard drive, flash drives have special firmware that moves data across the drive, so you don't "wear out" sections of the drive you would normally rewrite over and over again. They still don't last as long as traditional hard drives.

Most games will function happily, although you'll need to copy their folders created under your Users folder to the new system for your saved games to work.

Crysis and COD4 work (just copy the game to your flash drive and play it anywhere), although I can't speak for AoE, due not being a geek.
