Armed Assault is not shader intensive, its just basically in alpha state and not fully optimized. Im sure R6 Vegas will see a performance gain once Nvidia sorts out the drivers.

Well, I don't feel that it runs faster on ATI cards, compared to Nvidia cards of course. My X1900XT absolutely crawls at one point at the beginning at 1280x960, I had to put it at 1024x768 and it still felt sluggish, just not like before. At the same point, my 8800GTX flies through it, and that's at 1440x900 resolution. The conclusion of this? The 8800GTX is probably doubling the FPS a X1900XT gets, while at a higher resolution as well. The game is quite unoptimized, but the 8800GTX runs it decently, at least for me.

Well after playing the first level I'm still seeing some what looks to be a wierd shadow issue with AA enabled, Its hard to explain, almost like ghosting, i'll post pics in a bit what i'm talking about, however, disableing HDR and renabling it again causes the problem to go away temporarily, this problem also only seems to arrise in areas which are HDR intensive.

The problem with that theory is that the R500 in the 360 differs far more significantly in architecture than a current ATI offering as compared to ATI vs. Nvidia.

Regardless, perhaps it's moot - the poster below indicates ATI doesn't really have any edge after all. Frankly it's no speed demon on all three platforms from my experience.

Have to pretty much agree, it has some decent normal mapping on the characters uniforms, but aside from that - bleh.

So 8800GTX owners, have you tried playing in a ridiculously low resolution (like 800*600) to see if you can get 60fps? Might be intersting to see if it's a CPU or a GPU limitation here.

Or more likely, a coding limitation.
