Still cant get anything to work. The anisotropic works just fine, but the anti aliasing never works, I have to be doing something wrong.

Half Life 2 for instance, the in-game anti aliasing wont work because ATI card users can only get that for some reason. I use nHancer to try to get myself some AA, so I go to that profile and I turn on the following

Anti Aliasing, check
Coverage Sample, check
8x, check

I start the game, nothing works. I've also tried millions of combinations involving the enhance in game setting, multisampling and application controlled, cant get it to work.

Guild Wars, the only time the AA works through nHancer is if I turn off post processing effects, same with Company of Heroes. I just leave the Post Processing on and use the in-game AA and works fine, but why wont it work with the processing on?

I have 2 questions -

1. Will you include the extra CSAA mode in future drivers? There are officially 8x, 8xQ, 16x, and 16xQ. But you only have 8x, 16x, and 16xQ in the latest version.

2. Anyway to speed up the loading of this app? It runs in the background as a service and it still takes 10 - 15 seconds to load. THis happens regardless of the driver.

8xQ is under the multisampling setting... they are all then covered. The app on the otherhand loads pretty quick for me, less then 10s.

I love this app and found a definite use for it.

When I installed driver 163.11 HDR+AA became broken in "Oblivion" for some reason. When I looked under the "Oblivion" profile, Compatibility: Anti aliasing compatibility it was set to "Rainbow 6 Vegas". Overriding this to "Oblivion (AA&HDR)" fixed the problem I was experiencing.

I have no idea why the "Oblivion" profile got set to "Rainbow 6 Vegas". All I did was remove my old driver in safe mode then install 163.11.

I've had no problem using 8x coverage AA, Transparency supersampling AA and 16x AF with this app. I posted some edge quality shots from "Oblivion" below:

because thats the correct setting

oblivion uses vegas number now 45. nHancer just wasn't updated so long that has old out of date settings.

Oblivion changed the number about 2 months ago

I don't know all the tech behind it and it seems you do.

All I do know is HDR + AA in "Oblivion" was broken with 163.11 driver for me until I installed and tried nHancer with the setting I noted. It even remained broken when I tried putting back 162.22 for whatever the reason.

I didn't do anything exotic when installing 163.11. I just removed the old driver in safe mode then installed 163.11.

HDR + AA worked fine with the 162.22 driver before trying 163.11.

EDIT-

Let me illustrate. Below is "Oblivion" with 8xAA set from the nVidia control panel as override application with 163.11, and this is also how 8xAA appears set from nHancer with AA compatibility unticked.

Note the top two horizontal boards.

I did discover ticking AA Compatibility does work with the "Rainbow 6 Vegas" setting or "Oblivion (AA&HDR)". Below is with anti aliasing compatibility ticked under nHancer's compatibility tab. Apparently the fix is ticking anti aliasing compatibility under the compatibility tab with nHancer.

Forcing AA + HDR from the nVidia CP with 163.11 did not work for me, and Nhancer will not work either without anti aliasing compatibility ticked under the compatibility tab.

In any case, it's all good now.

Hi there
After installing nHancer 2.2.3 I am now able to play MOHAA using the
( reasonably ) latest nVidia drivers on my 7950GX2.
However, I notice that I am now unable to install the expansion packs; Spearhead and Breakthrough.
When I try to install I get a message to the effect that MOHAA is required to be installed.
It appears that nHancer must make some change to the .exe for MOHAA to make it work.
Any ideas on how to install these expansion packs when using nHancer ?
Do I have to uninstall MOHAA and then reinstall all the games at the one time ??

cheers

Nope, nHancer does nothing to MOHAA at all. It just configures settings for your gfx card. One of those settings can resolve a problem with MOHAA (the driver extension) nHancer doesn't touch anything else.

Your problem must lie elsewhere.

Thanks for that
I might have to uninstall and re-install the game.

cheers
