Take it back from wherever you bought it from, get a replacement ASAP.

BTW, what brand drive do you have?

Check the two types in this pic: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair...2806%20073.jpg

I'm asking because I had reading problems with my last 360, and it had the samsung drive.

I just checked ours and according to that pic we have the Hitachi drive and have never had a problem with the 360.

Dont worry mate theres loads of people who have had to return their 360's. im already on my 3rd but this one seems good.

Just take it back and get a replacement. their usually pritty good about it especially as youve only had it 2 days.

Im gonna check which drive i have tonight. my last one was rubbish. it wouldnt read disks after a month of use so it must have been the samsung drive.

Sorry to hear that. You shouldn't even think of a repair, because that takes about 2 weeks... Just return it to the store for an exchange, it shouldn't be an issue.

I hope this initial failure won't tarnish your potential fun!

samsung is newer and apparently quiter. I've sent my last 360 in because the drive scratched 2 of my disks and also didn't want to read some of my media disks.

I have a samsung. It is very solid and works fine with no scratching. Though If this drive is considered the "quieter" drive, I'd hate to hear how loud the other ones are.

seems if you plan to be a 360 gamer, you need to prepare yourself for at least 3 exchanges of the system .....that's what myself and several others here have had to do. Not a huge deal, but boy does it not make me put any faith in buying a 1st gen system for m$ next time around...
