Gonna get it for testing on using my backup rig. Just to get the hang of it.

Will install it on my main rig when all bugs are dead, and surely not before 6 months after its initial release. I do ot trust Microsoft developers.

But eventually be using it in all my PCs.

The ultimate deciding factor if someone should buy Vista or not, will be the overall pc performance and features in comparison to WinXP.

IMO the gaming performance will sway enthusiasts from DX9.0L to Vista and DX10.

If the difference is considerable then you will see a majority buy Vista.
If not considerable difrference at launch, over time M$ will have to find another way to get the masses to switch.

I'll move when I know that my performance wont be in the ditch when I game or just surf the internet (so basically by the second service pack).

I'll probably dual boot for a while. When all the bugs are out of vista and most games play fine, I'll get rid of XP...

I'm waiting. As much as I want DX10, I will wait and see how gamers fair with this OS. With all the DRM garbage and the new licensing it sounds like this os might end up being a major pain in the rear. I tend to change motherboards, memory, CPU's and vid cards anywhere from 1 to 3 times a year and if this new licensing turns out to be that difficult I might actually give up on have the latest and greatest gaming stuff...might even give Linux a try.

Yeah, I get it free through school but, I want to wait and see if anyone attempts to upgrade and gets shut out and has to buy a new one before I put it on.

I'll probably just pick up a copy of Vista Ultimate as soon as I can. I have three rigs that I'll be running it on. But first I'll just buy the one copy and try it out. If I'm impressed, then I'll get the other two copies for my other two computers.

We'd still be running W2k if everyone had that line of thought!

Same boat I'm in. My wife said she'd buy me the home edition upgrade for my birthday in may if I want it. hopefully SP1 will be out by then or close to it and I'll have all the drivers for my stuff I use.. till then, dual boot.

Creative still doesn't have drivers for my sound card yet though so I'm not in a rush.
