I changed my mind. I'm not going to buy Vista at least for a year. I already have XP . . . . what new is Vista going to provide for me?

We got the Business Vista discs in at work and I installed it on a computer today with a P4 3 GHZ cpu, 512 ram and an integrated Intel vid card. It actually ran pretty well. Beautiful interface too (was using Aero). I was reluctant on getting it but after seeing it in action I have to say I really like it and am now thinking about getting it sooner than later.

I love it. Installed Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate and it's phenomenal. Runs perfect, and my system is merely average:

Pentium D 945 ( 3.4 GHz )
2GB DDR/533
GeForce 7600GT 256MB

Smooth as silk. I love the MCE features when used with my 360

Don't play PC games but surfing is faster for me.

Vista installs and runs for 30 days without s/n, by now I'm on the 12 day of Vista usage and it's been the most solid OS I've used ever. I only got it to crash messing with RAM settings wich I know cause memory failures, but by software I've been unable... XD

An upgrade from OSX.

I had considered it until I read this:

http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut00...vista_cost.txt

Vista seems to be an upgrade made primarily for media content providers and comes with a lot of performance-sucking features that go against my interests as a consumer.

Looks like evilghost wrote that.

As an interested consumer, Vista's great.

If Microsoft didn't enforce their stupid activation thing I'd probably be buying Vista already, despite the price. Unfortunately they do, and I'm not a big fan of applications -- or operating systems for that matter -- that insist to call home.

Besides that I'm not particulary excited of OS that decides that I need a new licence if my hardware configuration changes "too much". How much is too much? I often upgrade my hardware little by little. Last week I replaced my CPU (still using my old motherboard). Would this have been a problem? I don't know. Sometimes FUD works this way too.

Having that said, I'll probably wait for "alternative" and more user-friendly way to install VIsta. Right now the only reason to get Vista is the talks about Flight Simulator X's ability to use multiple CPUs/cores with Vista, exclusively. Apart from FSX, I have no reason to upgrade my game-launching interface.
