Default HDTV-out help needed

Can anyone point me in the direction of some resources to help me figure out how to configure X so I can run dual displays (LCD monitor @ 1280x1024 and HDTV at 720P via composite) using my 6600GT? I'd really like to get this working

I've tried a config based on this post, but it's almost like X doesn't detect the TV on startup, so doesn't output to it. I've attached my xorg.conf and my X server log.

Thanks.

You should read Configuring TV-Out from the readme.

Anyway you need the TVOutFormat to be Composite.

I'm not sure if you meant component instead of composite, but you can't get 720p via composite...

Yup it's true, not paying sufficient attention . He was looking at my xorg.conf and that is with component but he wants to use composite.

You'll need component bobsyouruncle or possibly DVI - HDMI if you have that input.

DVI - HDMI isn't well supported in the Linux nVidia driver (EDID issues) if you have a 1080p capable HDTV. If you have an RGB input on your HDTV use it instead.

Yeah sorry, it was a typo on my part, I meant component (that's what I've got in my xorg.conf).

Is it possible that X doesn't detect the TV and thus doesn't use it? Because if I run the nvidia-config application, I have to hit 'detect displays' for the TV to show up.

Some to come to this thread with my own problem.

Has anyone got HD1080i out of component out of 6800, with 9647 driver??

I can get 1280x720 with a modeline, even I have set TVOutFormat to "HD1080i". However, not a 1920x1080 modeline is accepted by the driver. Does anyone have an actually working 1920x1080i modeline good for component out?

Thanks in advance.
