Question for you, the standard AV cable is the red/white ones that came with the PS3 or are you talking about something else? If so I'm assuming you just set the PS3 to output the sound using those instead of HDMI? I'd like to know how this works because I want to ditch component and use DVI for my TV but I'm worried about how to get sound.
Thanks for the info.

Yeah, exactly. I just plugged the cable supplied with the PS3 in as well and after choosing the HDMI for video I choose the standard AV for audio. My flat-panel has a DVI connector with two audio connectors for it. I just connected the red/white audio connectors of the standard cable to the flat-panel and left the yellow video connector hanging. It's working fine.

Heh, I haven't gotten around to comparing them yet but I think MikeC also has both so maybe he can share his opinion.

As a generalization though...

I do think the X360 interface is easier to use in general. I don't think I ever read the manual for it but I've had to read the manual for the PS3. So, I think the interface for the X360 is a little more intuitive. I like that the PS3 has wireless networking built-in and has a much larger hard disk. Plus, it has blu-ray by default. I haven't bought the HD-DVD player for the X360 yet so I can't comment on that.

That's all so far.

That's great. I'm going to just turn the AV cable straight to my receiver then and use an HDMI/DVI adapter for my video. Thanks!

What you don't want to buy a $60 cable like me. Anyway, hope it all works out for you.

Well I already have component to hold me over unlike you so I can be patient.

Yea, it would suck if for some reason it didn't work but I don't see why it wouldn't since my monitor can display HDCP HD through DVI....according to the manual. I'll post my results next week when the cable arrives.

I've been watching him play Resistance Fall of Man (720p), which is a showcase title for the PS3. We are certainly looking forward to many of the upcoming PS3 titles!
Nice pics MikeC.

The controller is working well. The wireless feature is a plus, but it is less sensitive (in Resistance) than what I am used to. I had hoped there would be an in-game option to control the sensitivity, but I could not find it.

Resistance is turning out to be a pretty good game. An interesting concept and quite challenging on the easy level I tried out team-based multiplayer, which was OK, but it didn't hold my interest too long. Enemy Territory has spoiled me

Resistance, Genji, and CoD3 use it... I believe NBA07 does also, and I am sure there are others...
