I know that it's the same package so I don't think that installing it using this "official way" will change something...

Yeah, but humoring him can't hurt since you already have the package in /usr/portage/distfiles :P

I'm reading some other posts about this kind of errors and nobody can help those who have it...
yeah I can use nv driver but I like some ogl apps... |

same problem here, cannot go fullscreen in any games (windowed works). looking forward to a solution, thanks
[e] okay, seems i got it working (so far) what i had, and upgraded to:* x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9629 >>> x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9746 * 2.6.18-gentoo-r3 >>> 2.6.18-gentoo-r6 although i didn't check if it works with r3 and new drivers, just did an update of both. [e2] yep seems to work flawlessly (tried quake3 and quake4). now i only need to figure out how to make the game not stretch but rather add black borders left&right while keeping the aspectratio intact.
