I have a JVC LCoS set and must say the PQ is outstanding.

XBR2 does have a great feature in its DRC 2.5. SD can be made rather decent.

Agree.

LCoS is a little scary as it's only 2nd generation in Sony and JVC sets, while DLP is at its 5th.

Major innovations are coming to LCoS in next years models, we should see contrast ratios approaching 20,000. My 70" will be for sale.

XBR's usually come out in August. If the next gen XBR is worth it to me to upgrade, I'd sell depending on current purchase price. For example if my TV is $3500 new in August 2007, I'd sell for $2500ish. The only wear item is the replaceable lamp. I bought it for $5000 even November 12 2006. It's ISF calibrated, but to my sources so there is value but limited value there.

You'd have to be local, I kept the box and packing but screw shipping this thing. When I sell my stuff I have the person over and they view it in perfect operation in my home. That way I don't get " it doesn't work " after they drop it on the ground while unloading it at their house =)

I haven't read much of the thread, but if you want big bang for your buck, look no further than a modern DLP or LCoS set.

If you want "smaller" set:

Samsung 50" HLS87/88 1080p DLP
Sony 50" A2000 1080p LCoS

Medium sets:

Samsung 56" hls87/88 1080p DLP
JVC 56" FN/FH97 1080p LCoS

Large sets;

Samsung 61" -"- -"-
JVC 61" -"- -"-
Sony 60" A2000

The more I read this and other threads, the more convinced I am that DLP and LCoS are the way to go. Those kind of sets will fit my budget nicely when I upgrade this fall, maybe even go under budget. That way I can invest in nicer audio equipment.

Evilchris has sold me on Sony's lcos too. I'll probably pick up their 60" when I move to a new place. A move is coming, and I don't feel like moving a 60" TV when I do

That ought to be sweet. Unfortunately I don't have quite that much space. I'll probably be in the 46-inch range myself. If I can find a set with VGA, DVI, HDMI, and two component inputs, I'll be very happy. Have to wait and see what's going to be out for the 2007-08 model year. One things's for sure, though--no JVC. Everything my fiance and I have owned from that brand has been unreliable garbage.

According to the cnet review the 60" doesn't, I'd imagine the 50" would not as well. They hooked it up via a DVI->HDMI adapter though and it did 1080p just fine that way.
