Default Problems with forcedeth in nForce4

I can't get the on-board ethernet in my new motherboard to work at all. The first time I plugged it into my cable modem (directly), it automatically detected the correct DNS settings, but wouldn't let me go (or even ping) anything. From then on, I've been connecting through my router. I still have no luck, but I'm positive that my router / modem is working correctly (I'm connected wirelessly through my laptop). Here's the relevant specs:

-Mach Speed MSNV-939 motherboard with an nForce4 chipset (AMD)
-Ubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10) AMD64 (installed via Alternate CD with noapic and nolapic, if that matters)
-Relevant lspci line:
Quote:
00:0a.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 Ethernet Controller (rev a3)
-Relevant dmesg lines:
Quote:
[ 29.035927] forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver. Version 0.54.
[ 29.275780] forcedeth: using HIGHDMA
[ 29.797225] eth0: forcedeth.c: subsystem: 01565:2501 bound to 0000:00:0a.0
-ifconfig only shows lo - it doesn't even mention eth0.
-It works fine under Windows on the same computer.
-Rebooting doesn't work.

Any ideas? I'm new at these things, so please be patient.

Oh yeah, and this is my first post, so hey everyone! I've never owned any nVidia hardware before (not intentionally), and I hope to have a great time with nVidia integration into Linux.

You should retest with a more recent version of forcedeth (per the sticky post in this forum).

or ifconfig -a

ifconfig eth0:

Quote:
Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4D:09:1C
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:10 Base address:0x4000
I haven't upgraded my forcedeth yet - will try that soon.
