Amazing, didn't the HD-DVD camp a couple of months back say using the argument that the porn industry is backing something useless?

I have no idea what the "HD-DVD camp" said (whoever that is that you are talking about), all I know is that this porn company is now supporting HD DVD now instead of Blu ray and that's what I was posting about.
To me personally it makes no difference as I don't own any porn videos and don't plan on buying any but like the article says there are billions of porn videos rented so to HD DVD this is a pretty big deal I would imagine.

Again, who gives a S*** about the Japs? My goodness . . .

I had a HHGregg Guy come in tonight and ask when we were going to start carrying BR movies. I said, "Hopefully never." He got really offended and we had a 30 min discussion about the two formats. "Well, we got a 1080p TV with Sony's new BR player!!!" I said "Ha, why don't you go grab a copy of Decent and tell me how good the quality is." What a joke. BR will be dead before the end of the year and everyone knows it.

I just asked a question. Who seriously gives a S*** about what the Japs like? Oh, I guess we can't get opinions into any of the topics around here. Guess I'll turn my iPod back on and get back to sipping coffee . . .

Seriously, to hell with BR. It's well on its way.

Talking about your made up conversation with the made up guy in your made up story.

By the way, its "The Descent" which is a horrible movie anyway.

He was trying to grab attention of others around at my place of work, trying to get people to come by his store and blow over a grand on the Sony player. I failed to mention that an older guy interrupted our convo to ask about DVD recording. Those people finally left after about 30 minutes. I guess that guy didn't have to be an arse trying to advertise for Sony. We get that crap through work mail all day long anyways.

I think Sony's making **** up.

Blu-ray has 96% of the HD player market in Japan. "In terms of Japan, the game is already over there."
lol yeah right.

No, it isn't made up, it is a completely true statment. Let me explain.

The statement: "Almost all the top 20 movies are only available on Blu-ray." Is not the same as the statment: "The top 20 movies sold were on Blu-ray.". The first statement is equivalant to saying "Almost all the top 20 movies are also only available on Blu-ray."

That of course is marketing for you.

Wow thank for the news.

96% is really very impressive, that mean Blu-ray was declared winner of HD format in Japan as HD-DVD have only just small 4% of marketshare so that mean HD-DVD is dead in Japan.

I spend the last 3 days researched to find out what the UK marketshare of VHS and Betamax was back in early day and the current US marketshare of HD-DVD and Blu-ray.

In 1980 Betamax had ruled the whole UK market long before VHS came then Betamax's marketshare started to declined rapid every month when VHS came on sale and in 1983 VHS captured 70% of UK market while Betamax held 30% but one year on in 1984 VHS increased the marketshare to 75% and Betamax marketshare declined to 25%. In 1985 all retailers recognised there are huge market for VHS as Betamax marketshare still continued to declined rapid below 20% and UK retailers declared VHS the winner of VCR format and then all Betamax VCRs was sold at big discounts and vanished from the face of UK high street stores forever, in 1986 Betamax marketshare was declined very fast to 7.5% as VHS had 92.5% of UK market.

I checked many websites for US sales rank for both HD-DVD and Blu-ray, they all the same. According to DVD Empire, this month Blu-ray accounted 57.84% and HD-DVD had 42.16%. It was a huge change since last year when HD-DVD had 59.66% and Blu-ray accounted 40.34% of US marketshare. HD-DVD lost 17.5% of share now and it still continue to decline, cheap HD-DVD players like $199 HD-DVD addon for Xbox 360 really do not help boost HD-DVD. If HD-DVD continue to decline throughout to end of 2007 then Blu-ray format could account over 70% of US market.
