No it made up by hundreds of studios, the complete list of exhibtors at adult expo are here counted about 330 studios but that not all, I found another listing of porn studios worldwide here. Aaron McKenna should polled every booths to get the full picture but cherry picked 12 out of 330 did not mean HD-DVD has won, all studios will monitor the US marketshare and NPD data to get the full picture. But I think it really do not matter for the porn industry because everything changed in the last 32 years. There was no Internet in the early day of VHS and Betamax. Then around 1997 lots of people have brand new DVD-ROM drive to watched movies and porns, last year porn industry had a revenue of $57 billion, it not all came from DVD, DVD had a revenue of $3 billion or 5%. But now DVD are not that popular anymore, it is replaced by broadband with everybody can either download porns from P2P free or buy online and download the contents for as little as $19 then burn it to a DVD rather than buy the same DVD from stores or mail order for $100. Same thing will do with HD porns, it already available on Internet, buy download porns and streamings from Internet had a revenue of more than $14 billion or 25%.

I dont think it will make a big impact on HD format no matter if either won because majority of people prefer to buy HD contents online and download it then burn to a Blu-ray disc on either PC Blu-ray burner drive or Blu-ray recorder for as little as $19, it save the studio a fortune not to make and master Blu-ray discs and print covers in the same way as Steam when I rather bought Half Life 2 contents online and download it then burn to DVD for lower cost than pay the full price for a DVD in the high street store.

I'm sick of repeating the same thing over and over again.

PORN WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME IMPACT ON THIS WAR AS IT DID ON VHS/BETAMAX BECAUSE PORN IS READILY AVAILABLE IN MANY OTHER FORMATS ALREADY, INCLUDING HDV DOWNLOADS.

Anyway, Sony said it wanted NO PORN on BD. Looks like they have no choice but HD DVD.

Vivid (one of the largest in adult movie business) seems to be ignoring that and releasing on both formats regardless. HD-DVD/Blu-ray releases to come later in the year.

Hmmm...I thought Sony said if companies tried to go ahead with it, they'd reject their production rights or something like that.

Sigh...I'm too lazy to look up the article.

They did, but Vivid is one of the big players and the can afford to produce their own discs, unlike a number of smaller studios. Or at least that is what the articles would seem to indicate.

You do of course realize that the number 1 seller of dvd movies in north America is Walmart, and Walmart doesn't release their sales numbers to anyone.

The other major thing that everyone should keep in mind is that BlueRay and HD-DVD sales when added together, still are chicken feed and not doing well at all.

I think that site only lists Amazon.com sales.

Indeed, January 2007 is the best month ever for Blu-ray and the worst month ever for HD-DVD, DVD Empire sales figure showed that HD-DVD has lost alot of ground and a massive gain for Blu-ray. DVD Empire HD format sales accounted 34.54% for HD-DVD and impressive 65.46% for Blu-ray. HD-DVD lost about 5% of sales each month, if it still that way for the next few months then in Feb could see HD-DVD have about 29% and 70% for Blu-ray. In March could see HD-DVD hold about 24% while Blu-ray could gain about 75% of sales.

That is one interpretation of the results, however it isn't the only plausible one. Take for instance that the PS3 has just recently come into supply in January and as with all things there would be quite rush to get dvd's to play on it. Does that mean that the amount of sales will continue at that rate? Not necessarily, purchasing trends month to month cannot and should not be plotted as a strait line but need to take into considerations availability, purchase patterns and monthly sales characteristics. Take for instance the PS3 which had brisk sales on units for the first while and now has significantly cooled off in north america, if the blueray sales are following the PS3 sales then you would expect a high volume of sales on the uptake and then it to cool off. Either way short term results are not a good way to evaluate the performance of a product.
I am hopeful by midyear that we will see a significant buy in to one format or the next, however from current sales numbers it really doesn't look like either format will gain enough traction by then.

But look at the graph! No, not the scales on the sides, just the pretty lines! One is SOOOOOO much higher than the other! The lower line should just give up entirely, no point.
