Default Re: slow FPS based from glxgears, help please

glxgears using the old Nvidia driver 1.0-8178. I downgraded since I need to troubleshoot another issue. But see below.

[mythtv@localhost root]$ DISPLAY=:0 glxgears
10387 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2077.400 FPS
10939 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2187.800 FPS
10945 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2189.000 FPS
10874 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2174.800 FPS
10921 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2184.200 FPS
10872 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2174.400 FPS
10937 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2187.400 FPS
11064 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2212.800 FPS
10891 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2178.200 FPS
10992 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2198.400 FPS

EDIT: WOOOOOHOOOOO, after rebooting the box

[mythtv@localhost htdocs]$
[mythtv@localhost htdocs]$ DISPLAY=:0 glxgears
15091 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3018.200 FPS
16315 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3263.000 FPS
16532 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3306.400 FPS
16179 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3235.800 FPS
16458 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3291.600 FPS
16331 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3266.200 FPS
16348 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3269.600 FPS
16349 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3269.800 FPS
16467 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3293.400 FPS
16036 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3207.200 FPS
16332 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3266.400 FPS
16756 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3351.200 FPS
16058 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3211.600 FPS

I'm glad I still have the 1.0-8178 version installer.

glxgears is not a reliable benchmark. Don't expect its results to mean much of anything at all. That's why some distros require you to use the -iacknowledgethatthistoolisnotabenchmark option to get any output at all.
