Default Problems with the newest driver with Debian Linux

Hello everyone,
I'm having a rough time, with the installation now, as the installer doesn't recognize my kernel version and then shuts down itself. I'm using the kernel version 2.6.8-3-386 #1 Wed Dec 6 00:38:53 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux. Please, if I have not told you enough information, just tell me. Thanks in advance!
