Default M1710 Console Issues w/Nvidia Driver

Hello All:

I just purchased my Beast and I am having problems with my console after I exit Xorg.

System Specs
--------------
Dell M1710 T7600G
Nvidia 7950 GTX card with 512 mb of ram
4gb Memory
100gb 7200 rpm drive
OS: Gentoo Linux 2006.2
Xorg 7.1

I am not using framebuffer yet as I just want to get it working first. Using the proprietary driver from Nvidia and the one from Gentoo's portage, I am able to boot just fine, read my console, and start Windowmaker (my favorite) just fine at 1920x1200. I set this up with the Nvidia-Settings app. Whenever I exit back to the console from xorg though, I get garbled, unreadable text and I have to reboot immediately to get it back to normal. I can't read the text at all but it will still allow me to type. It is like setting a resolution to a higher rate than a monitor can use. I tried 'reset' but that didn't work either. If I use the NV driver from xorg, I can start xorg and the window is smaller on the screen (1280x1024 ??). When I exit xorg, I can read the text just fine. It works like that. I want to utilize the full lcd resolution with the nvidia driver.

I have been chasing this down for a few days but every search I do comes up empty.

I just used a basic configuration using xorgcfg.

Xorg.conf

I'm experiencing the same problem with my M1710, which is running the Geforce Go 7950 GTX too. Might have something to do with the graphic card?

Does this problem also reproduce with an official Debian kernel?

My screen is exactly the same when I exit xorg. I will send you my bug report later tonight. I am using Kernel 2.6.19-r4 on Gentoo Linux and xorg 7.1.1

I'm not having any success reproducing this problem here on an M1710. When I console switch away from X there is no corruption. There's also no corruption when exiting X.

Does your M1710 have Geforce Go 7950(!) GTX? For me, the problem hasn't occur while console switching from X, and the problem happens randomly (about 25% chance) while exiting X.

EDIT: The problem occur nearly always depending on how long X been running.

Yes, mine has the 7950GTX. So you're stating that this only reproduces after X has been in use for some extended period of time? Can you quantify how long?
