Yup. Here's a really informative link:

Good link, but old. The contrast "weakness" is gone now and has surpassed the others.

I hear JVC has some new tech promising 20,000:1 contrast on their upcoming ( could be 1 - 2 years ) LCoS sets. If Sony can't keep up with that I'll switch.

Thanks for the info, I really want to replace my old crt projection 65" (480P) but im strearing towards DLP. There is so many options I don't know what to get. I just want the best picture I can get with a good price range. I really don't care if its DLP, LCD or plasma. I don't want a tv less then 42".

XBR2's are expensive, possibly overpriced, but not by much. DLP is a good value. I see rainbows though and don't like the spinning color wheel. I was not impressed with Samsungs LED based DLP's.

So for me it was LCoS, and Sony's were the best from my observation.

DLP and LCoS are completely different technologies. Both are RPTV's.

Sony, JVC = LCoS

Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Samsung = DLP

Then LCoS gets more confusing. Sony calls theirs SXRD, JVC calls theirs D-ILA.

Have fun:

Those would be the 50A2000, 55A2000, and 60A2000. Those are the "budget" models and do not include a lot of the advanced processing features found in XBR2. Still, check them out and see what you think. Play with the settings if the picture looks like **** which it will at Best Buy.

If you can swing it I'd step up to XBR2. It comes in 60 and 70" models.
