Default 9746 console screen corruption.

Since I updated to version 9746 if I switch to the console the screen gets corrupted, as shown in the attached image.

I don't use framebuffer, the console works if I don't start X, the system doens't lock up, as I can switch back to X.

I believe this looks like a bug

cheers,

Pietro

Hi,
I experienced exactly the same situation.
I have no framebuffer, only plain text console.
The screen is corrupted with 9746 either on my 6600 go equipped laptop or on my 6600GT agp desktop box.
Furthermore no luck with suspend to ram or suspend to disk on my laptop.
The system doesn't hang, just doesn't resume the video output.
Anyway all is FINE with the previous 8xxx serie of drivers...

Regards,
Stefano

After you switch back to the console, and assuming you are logged in or can log in without seeing too much of what you're doing, try running the ``reset'' command. On my system its located in /usr/bin. Check the man page for it but basically all it does is set your terminal settings again, it doesn't reboot your machine. Failing that you can try ``telinit 3'' for multiuser mode, or ``telinit s'' to get to single user mode, followed by ``telinit 3'' to get back to multiuser mode or ``telinit 5'' to start up xwindows again. We could be talking about a different problem but these steps always clear up the console for me.

No, reset in this case doesn't work.

I also have this problem with the latest driver (9746). I'm using linux 2.6.19.2 on an LFS system. X works just fine, but when I exit, the console is exactly as described.

It's a bug with the nvidia agp-driver. Switch to agpgart and it will go away.

If someone could point me to where I should post a bug report I would appreciate it..

I'm using a PCI-X video card, so it's not an AGP issue.

We see this problem on our Quadro FX4500 and FX5500 when using this driver. Corruption has been reported by the users on both screens (although not on the third when twinview + xinerama is being used). We've reverted back to 8776 for now.

These workstations don't have AGP, they're PCI-E.
