Europe - €499 for 20GB / €599 for 60GB (that’s $775)
UK - 425 for 60GB (that’s €647 or $838)

The system with a 20GB hard drive will cost $499 in the US, while a model with a 60GB drive will cost $599. European pricing is 499 and 599 euros respectively.

Final pricing in the UK has not been set, but the top model would probably retail at about 425, said Ray MacGuire, of Sony UK.

is that not the same pricing? IIRC the only price that has changed is ireland, which didnt even have a set price anyways.

Sony is rapping our European brothers. Not right man... not right at all. I guess they'll learn the hard way that treating Europe as an after thought and then shafting them on the price will end up biting them at the end.

isnt it obvious? extra precautions must be made when shipping the cell processor. if two PS3's collide, it could signal a second big bang and create a new PS3 sub universe where everything is made by Sony and overpirced.

wait, that place already exists... its called Japan

Yeah they blame vat for percentage increases WELL over 17.5%, the USA has sales tax too, they just don't include that in the list price.

If I were european I don't know which would be worse, being told I don't mind being last, or taking a price hit.

I was expecting a price of 499 inc VAT for the 60GB system tbh.

Well over priced IMO, i'd sooner invest towards a new PC than pay that.

That's nearly a whole months wage for some people who work full time.... LMAO .... for a poxy games console.

Rip Off Britain works its magic again.

the ratio between the 360/wii/ps3 prices in the US should be pretty much the same as the ratio in europe/uk. I don't think theres any conspiracy. its just the way things are, and it kinda sucks. lol

Their loss. The 360 is already expensive enough up here at 600$. Think they'll have much luck at 900$?

Got mine on Ebay for 620E shipping included, same price as it will be when it gets here, eventually. I have Resistance and Cod3 for it, both great games.

Full time? Min wage on 36 hours a week is more than that...?! Oh wait you said "nearly" my bad. Yeah... very few have that kinda disposable cash without using credit cards.
