I managed to upgrade mine to 3.5Ghz and ran stress test for a while. No problem but AUX is at 122c... is it bad? I don't know wtf AUX is... :S

I used Speedfan to monitor the temps. Even it's at idle, temp reminds to be at 122c.

Man, I'm loving my new rig. I managed to overclock mine to 3.5GHz, lowered the RAM timing.
The heat is still pretty good (barely goes over 55c at full load)... man, G0 is awesome. I'm
going to tweak a bit more later and try for 3.6GHz...

Yeah, using Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme with SilenX IXP-76-18 120mm Fan. I'm very happy with the result.

Okay, bumped my Q6600 to 3.6GHz and set DDR2 back to 800MHz (still 1:1). Seems stable so far. Going to keep with that for now. Vcore is still at 1.41, DDR2 at 2.05.

WTF thats cooler than my E6420 @ 3.2ghz with the same heatsink!!!!

Then again maybe your getting the issue with speedfan were the temps are 15c out.

Download intels TAT (thermal analysis tool) and check what the temps are.

Is that a G0 stepping Q6600?

Yeah it's G0. I've been playing games and whatnot, no problem so far. TAT seems not to be working on Vista 64bit but I ran ASUS PC Probe II, it shows same temps. Do you have fan on heatsink?

Default Re: Kentsfield/Quad-Core Overclocking Thread

I keep forgetting to post my OC here.

I have been up to as high as 3.3GHz but the temps were a bit more than I wanted. The CPU fan was forced to turn a few more rpms than my ears would allow to be a "quiet" system.

I have been fairly surprised with the Asus Silent Square. It gave me better temps than a Zalman 9700 on the E6600 that predated the Q. With a PWM LED fan, the P5B dlx has been able to control the fan speed, max being an fairly loud 2200 rpms, but the highest I have seen with the mobo set to Performance Q-Fan has been about 1700 rpm with new slower/quieter case fans. No chance of thermal run away right now.

A Quad at 3.0GHz and an 8800GTX in a case that is not known for silence and you have to listen hard to hear it? I am happy as hell at 3.0GHz. If I get an Ultima or 120 Extreme, I might go for more, but that is getting greedy.

And any of you guys tried this memory?
http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...-6400C5DHX.pdf

It is rated for 5-5-5-18 at 1.8V. Should be a lock for 667 at 2.0V at 3-3-3-5or 800 at 4-4-4-12. I am thinking of selling my bother this Super Talent and getting four gigs, it's on sale with rebate at Fry's for $80 per 2x1GB kit after MIR.

Idunno. The 4GB of Readyboost seems to help the 2GB act like more like four. I may just get two more sticks of the Super Talent.
