I'm a new convert to Linux, and already it's apparent it will be my "work" OS.
I've an nVidia Quadro FX 3450 card, a Samsung SyncMaster 244T, RHEL 4 WS, upgrade 4 (x86_64). I loaded title driver which defaults to no support for "RandRRotation", so I went into the conf file and enabled it in the "Device" section, which gave me the ability to rotate screen in 90° increments. The problem is when I rotate the screen from "landscape" to "portrait", the display gets "confused" and I only have roughly half of my real estate usable, and it seems as if the screen "paints" as if it's still in landscape mode (cutting off a large portion of the painted screen on the right side). I can "drag enlarge" windows into the unused space, but the bar at the bottom housing quick launches, etc is practically in the middle of the screen. (Sorry about using so many obviously "windows" terms). The driver correctly identifies the monitor as DFP, and I don't have any performance problems. Everything appears to be working correctly, except for this. I often have need for "portrait" mode, so this is very important to my productivity. Please, if anyone has a fix for this I would be very grateful for the power (knowledge). -Brian |

What version of X and desktop environment are you running? There was a bug in older versions of libXrandr that could cause this problem.

I believe that bug was fixed in X.org 6.9 and higher: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2965
