Tiki wants to oc, so the Q6600 probably isn't the best choice, even if it will be $530. We've all seen how FSB limited the quads are, and unless something is different in the Q6600, it will be the same way. The unlocked multiplier is a MUST if you want over 3.2GHz.

There's no way the X6800 is a better buy right now. Especially if Crysis comes out in June as planned and is quad-core optimized.
Yes, I'm dead serious. Who's gonna buy from newegg. ebay FTW. I got my factory sealed brand new x6800 for $785 +$45 for shipping to Hong Kong early Dec last year. Right now it's $750 for a x6800, $905 for a qx6700.

Oh, and Crysis is coming in Fall, not June, and but the time it comes out, I'll be upgrading to native quad.

And you can't get a Kentsfield cheaper on ebay as well?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core-2-Ext...em300073612032

There's one for 729.99 right now. Brand new, factory sealed.

General Info
Crysis Release Date: (US) June, 2007 | (UK) June, 2007| (AU) June, 2007
Developer: Crytek
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: SCI-FI FPS
Platform: PC Exclusive

On top of that, it seems rather stupid to me to tell someone to go dual-core when you can get a quad core for around the same price and there will be games out in 4-5 months that will support it. Why waste money/time like that?

The X6800 is the most overhyped and overpriced processor on the market right now. They're in the same price bracket as the Kentsfield with two fewer cores, and they often don't overclock to any better speeds than an E6600 will for ~700$ cheaper.

Go to gamestop and release date for Crysis is 09/04/2007, and same release info on IGN. 722 for a Quad? Too bad seller isn't shipping to Hong Kong.

Default Re: QX6700 or X6800?

Well, honestly I was going to go QX6700 and even ordered one on frys.com, but then they told me item couldn't be exported. So then I checked ebay and found the $785 x6800, the QX6700 was $1200 on ebay at the time and no one shipping internationally at the time. Another reason why I decided not to get the QX6700 is because it's not 4 cores on one die.

Think of it like this you can overclock to get a faster speed but you can't add exta cores. This makes the choice simple. QUAD is the way to go I finally got the money to go Quad myself YAY Only reason i have to go Quad is Supreme commander as the performance increase is amazing and is my all time fave game. As the Quad an't good FSB overclocker, so extreme is the only way to go so you can increase the multiplier.
